Actor Mona Singh started her acting career by essaying the role of the eponymous heroine in the soap opera series Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. She garnered immense love and appreciation for playing the titular role. She then made her Bollywood debut with 3 Idiots starring alongside Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and Aamir Khan. Moreover, she has done some diverse roles in web series like Yeh Meri Family, M.O.M. – Mission Over Mars, Made in Heaven and Kaala Paani. But to play such diverse and intense roles, Mona feels that an actor needs to keep reinventing themselves to stay relevant.
Mona Singh on being typecast
During a candid chat with Bollywood Bubble, Mona revealed she rejected multiple projects because she didn’t want to get stuck doing saas-bahu sagas as the industry stereotypes them quickly. To avoid being typecasted, Mona feels relieved to have rejected those typical saas-bahu dramas. Singh exclusively told us, “In industry, it is very important to keep reinventing yourself to stay relevant otherwise you will end up doing the same thing which I never wanted to do in my life. Because of the shows that I didn’t want to do, I’m here today. Otherwise, I would have been stuck there, doing typical saas-bahu dramas, wearing heavy jewellery. I’m glad that I said no to so many things that I didn’t want to do.“
