EXCLUSIVE: Mukesh Chhabra recalls Shah Rukh Khan saying ‘Tu kuch kar raha hai na Jawan mein?’ and his reaction being, “What is going on?”

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan was one of the biggest – if not the biggest, releases of 2023. The action-thriller – directed by Atlee, starred a number of actors, including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra and more. But did you know, Mukesh Chhabra was also part of the supporting cast? During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the casting director – who played the Health Minister’s secretary in the film, got candid about his role in the film, his reaction to getting the part and working with SRK. Read on to know all he had to say.

Mukesh Chhabra on working with Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan

Talking about how he became a part of Jawan, Mukesh Chhabra said in Hindi, “I remember sitting, and while I was explaining something, Atlee was looking at me again and again. I asked him, ‘What happened?’ To this, he replied, ‘I have something for you, and you have to do it.’ I asked, ‘What?’ And he said, ‘I will tell you later.’ After this, I met Shah Rukh Khan and he said, ‘Tu kuch kar raha hai na? (You are doing something right?)’ And I was like, ‘What is going on?'”

He continued, “So they had decided already what my part will be in Jawan and they said, ‘You will look interesting in it’. And Shah Rukh loves me, so does Atlee. I told Atlee that you are the reason since you gave me my biggest on-screen role. And if you get an opportunity to perform a scene with SRK, so how will you say no? Zindagi mein aapko mauka mil raha hai, saamne Shah Rukh Khan khade hai aur aap unke saath dialoguebaazi kar rahe ho to ye bahut logon ka sapna hai. (Standing in front of SRK and engaging in dialoguebaazi with him is everyone’s dream). Woh ek tick mark hota hai na bucket list mein, this was that opportunity.“
