When you’re in the showbiz world, looks become the utmost priority and the basic need to become an actor. People don’t see your talent but it is the looks that matter the most. Due to this, several talented actors have faced rejection and actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui was one of them. During the latest episode of Let’s Talk in Bollywood Bubble, Nawaz revealed that people have demoralised him over his looks and told him to see his face before becoming an actor.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui on people criticising his looks

Looks ko lekar hoti thi aksar kyuki itna demoralise kar diya gaya tha. (Kehte the ki), ‘Arre shakal toh dekhle yaar kyu actor banne aajaate ho, kaha se aate ho’. Par hum bhi besharam hogaye the, moti chamdri hogaye the. Karlenge jitna bhi karna hai, karna toh bhai yehi hai, acting hi karni hai.” (People used to often criticise me over my looks and they have demoralised me. People used to say, “Oh, at least look at your face, why did you come to become an actor? But even we were shameless and became thick-skinned to such criticism. We used to continue doing it as acting is what we want to do.)

When asked if things have changed post stardom, Nawaz quips, “Ha main abhi khoosurat hogaya hu, log bolte bhi hai. Abhi bolte hai ‘Nawaz bhai kya lagte ho tum’. Kehete ki jab aapko kaamyabi milti hai toh log aapko face ko dhyaan se dekha jaata hai.” (Yes, now I have become handsome. Now, people tell me that I look handsome. It is said that when a person becomes successful, people start noticing your looks.)

During the same, Nawaz also spoke about working with Aamir Khan in Sarfarosh, Salman Khan in Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Shah Rukh Khan in Raees. Moreover, he recalled the time when he taught acting for some days to Ranveer Singh for his debut movie Band Baaja Baarat.
