Neha Sharma and Shruti Seth are basking in the love and praise for their recent series ’36 Days’. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the leading ladies, along with director Vishal Furia, discussed the ongoing debate about the increasing entourage costs of actors. Directors like Anurag Kashyap and Farah Khan have shared their perspectives on this issue. When asked about it from an actor’s point of view, Neha and Shruti candidly shared their thoughts on managing these expenses.
Neha Sharma on increasing entourage cost
Shruti said, “Neha and I did our own hair and makeup. I did her makeup, I did her hair, and we kept our costs very low.” Neha took over and commented on the same briefly as well. She said, “When they say this, it’s not a generic statement for most actors; I have to say that. It’s for a very small group of niche actors because they are in a position where they can demand these things and their demands are being fulfilled. If their demands weren’t being fulfilled, they wouldn’t make such demands in the first place. I assume that if producers were to say, ‘We’re not going to pay for this,’ these demands would just go away, which is the case for most actors.”

The Shararat actress continued, “You know, there are different shows where it’s stated right at the beginning that they want a certain continuity in the look, style, and feel, so there are certain shows where there’s one person taking care of the entire cast. Especially in this series, we have very unique looks, and at the end of the day, you want to make sure that the person who is styling that particular actor knows the continuity of how this person should look. I assume it was part of pre-production that we had the same stylist. Most shows are done like that.“
“As Neha rightly said, it’s a very small set of actors who have an entourage that impacts the production so much that the producers have to start putting a cap on it. I don’t think this particular show falls into that category,” she continued.
Background on the entourage cost debate
In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Anurag Kashyap had once commented on the same saying, “If you calculate the total film cost the person who cleans sweat is paid more than cameraman. Assistants who work hard are not paid enough. Infact these days actors come with a team of 15 persons and 4 among them are for making reels.”
