EXCLUSIVE: Nimrrit Kaur Ahluwalia reveals hesitating to call Abdu Rozik after his broken engagement; says, “I had to think whether it will be perceived negatively”

Actress Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia – who made her acting debut by essaying the roles of Meher Kaur Dhillon and Seher Kaur Gill in Choti Sarrdaarni, became a household name after participating in Bigg Boss 16. While on the reality show, she formed close friendships with her housemates, including Sajid Khan, Shiv Thakare, MC Stan, Sumbul Touqeer and Abdu Rozik.

During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the actress – who is also a lawyer, recalled the friendships she formed on the Salman Khan-hosted reality show, her bond with Abdu and how it changed over the years as well as whether the mandli is still friends. Kaur also opened up about hesitating to call Abdu when his engagement broke.

Talking about her friendship with Abdu Rozik and how the narrative around their bond was spun during their time in Bigg Boss 16, Nimrrit Kaur said, “It’s so absurd to me. I have a brother who is four years younger… Let’s keep the age gap aside. I genuinely cared for him because he was genuinely there to listen to me in that madhouse. Just because of that narrative, I feel like somewhere our friendship also got affected. Like, kissi saaf aur innocent cheez ko aapki naraz ne hi kharab kar diya. It was very distasteful if you ask me.”

She continued, “Like even the episode that happened with respect to my birthday, I’m sorry,m but I’m not the person who wrote behind his back, I’m not the one who had planned the birthday surprise, I was just at the receiving end. Toh agar logo ko itna hi problem tha ki nahi yeh sahi nahi hai toh karne kyu diya usse pehle?”

Nimrrit on Bigg Boss 16 mandli

Revealing if the Bigg Boss 16 mandli is still together and whether the bonds they share are still strong, Nimrrit Kaur revealed, “Friendships are still there but – I can say this for myself, maybe the comfort that I have with Sumbul or Sajid sir or Stan or Shiv, that can obviously never be the same with Abdu. As much as I hate to say this on record, and people might feel like… I’m just being really honest. Because I think, even though I want to you made someone so conscious of the intention. Matlab agar agenda hi… If I had to play that card, I could have played that with other people. People my age, let’s start with that.”

Nimrrit on consoling Abdu after his broken engagement

Talking about Abdu Rozik’s broken engagement and whether she is uncomfortable to call and comfort him, Nimrrit said, “Absolutely. There were so many moments jaha mera maan kiya ki let me (approach him) and then I had to think for a second like okay, will this be perceived – not by him but maybe by people around him, in a (negative manner). It happens. I can’t deny that.”
