‘EXCLUSIVE: Nupur Sanon on the label of being Kriti Sanon’s sister: I made sure my journey isn’t a clone of hers

Nupur Sanon, earlier known as the sister of actor Kriti Sanon made her entry as an actor recently, with the web series Pop Kaun. Her performance in the web series was well appreciated. Before Pop Kaun, Nupur has featured in a few music videos, including Filhall-the one opposite Akshay Kumar too. Sanon recently sat down with us for an exclusive conversation and opened up about her unconventional film choices. She even spoke about being labelled as ‘Kriti Sanon’s sister’.

When asked about being labelled as the ‘sister’ of actor Kriti Sanon, the Pop Kaun actress told Bollywood Bubble, “See, that’s there. I’m very proud of her (Kriti Sanon) work and her journey. And, you know, I really respect that. And I also know. I have also started facing that.“

She added, “I feel, that personal identity, it’ll take a while, you know, to kind off put, like seed in. It’s also because ghar mein ek aur shaks hai, jisne, kahi zyada bada naam kara hai, aur aur bada kare. Aur woh cheez hai, woh rahegi. (I feel, that personal identity, it’ll take a while, you know, to kind off put, like seed in. It’s also because in our house, there is one person who has earned a big name, and is achieving a bigger name for them. And that thing will always remain.)”

Nupur continued, “Matlab, I don’t let it get to me. Matlab, mujhe aise lagta hai (Means, I feel that), ultimately my work will speak for me. That is also a reason why, maybe consciously, I made sure that my individual journey, needs to not be a clone of hers. It has to be different. She’s (Kriti Sanon) started with a big production house, in a big film opposite Tiger (Shroff), a star kid. I started my journey with a music video. It’s very unconventional start. That was my conscious call, on how I would make my journey different, like more closer to me. I think that’ll help separate that whole.”

Meanwhile, Nupur is all set to make her Bollywood debut with the movie Noorani Chehra, opposite Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She will also feature in Tiger Nageshwara Rao, her first Pan-India film. Sanon was last seen in Pop Kaun, a web series. The actress has also worked opposite Akshay Kumar, in Filhall.
