Prabhas starrer Salaar was earlier scheduled to release on September 28. But it was delayed due to some delay in post-production work. The Prashanth Neel directorial will now hit the theatres on 22nd December 2023. Prabhas starrer Salaar will witness a clash with Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki. Shah Rukh emerged as the king of the box office with Pathaan and Jawan. While Prabhas enjoys a massive fandom down South. Looking at the tough competition both films will give to each other, let’s have a look at which one will race ahead.
Salaar vs Dunki: Which movie might earn more at the box office
Talking about the clash and which film might race ahead at the box office, trade expert Ramesh Bala said, “I am just going with the genre of the movies. Dunki is more like a Rajkumar Hirani movie. Those are mostly family entertainment kinds of movies. But at the same time, look at Salaar, it is coming from the director Prashanth Neel of KGF and features Prabhas. KGF Chapter 2 has done more than 400 crores in the north, even in small villages in Bihar and UP. So, the action genre has always the potential to do well everywhere.“
He further said, “If you look at Shah Rukh Khan’s 2000 crore grossers, they are not a Fan or Zero. They are like Jawan and Pathaan, and both are action movies that are easily palatable. So, Salaar has a slight edge because it’s a very action genre. Dunki may do well in the north, but in the south, it may not do as well as Jawan or Pathaan.”
While prominent trade expert and exhibitor Akshaye Rathi insists, “In terms of the opening, because of the kind of filmmaker Prashanth Neel is, which is absolute mass entertainment. There’s a great chance that Salaar will open bigger and also because the southern markets will perform a lot better for Salaar compared to Dunki. But having said that, Rajkumar Hirani is again, you know, one of those, I call him a test cricket batsman. Who’s more, they don’t just open with a bang, but they sustain for weeks together. So in terms of the opening, it’ll probably be Salaar. In terms of the overall run and the lifetime, it could be either dependent on the merit of the two films.”
We surely can’t wait to see how the year ends with two massive releases locking horns at the box office.
