Like most of the actors, Purab has been through his share of ups and downs in personal as well as professional life.

The actor got married to his long-time girlfriend and live-in partner, Lucy Payton in 2018. The two were dating for a long time and even had a daughter Inaaya in 2015. In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the Rock On actor shared how scrutiny around his personal life affected him. He also responded to the views of people who still consider having child out of wedlock a taboo.

Purab Kohli on having a child out of wedlock and taboos around it

Before Lucy, Purab was married to Yamini Namjoshi. Unfortunately, the two separated after 3 years. Being an actor, the public scrutiny around the relationship bothered Purab. Talking about it, he shared, “When I was younger, I used to get very bothered by things on the personal space coming up. And I learned that if you don’t make a big deal out of it even people won’t. So, I remember when I was a channel V and there was an article that came about my personal life.”

He continued, “It was about someone I was dating at that point of time and it was written in very bad light by a popular entertainment publication. And that really troubled me and I got bothered because it was about me in a bad dirty taste you know. After that there have been a few things you know I’ve been married before you know there were a few things that came out even during that time. But these are part aspects of me I can’t deny them. This is who I am and I don’t want to make a big deal about it. People ask me questions I answer it and move on.”

Purab on his concern as a parent

Having a child out of wedlock is something that is still not acceptable in our society. During the candid chat he shared if it concerns him that people might question his daughter Inaya about it in a wrong way. “It will concern anyone if your child is impacted by it. But Inaya knows that. She knows she was born before Lucy and me were married and we love her to death. So I mean what is wrong with that. If anything is possible there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s possible to have a child without being married. I don’t see if there is anything wrong and so does everyone around me”, said the Rock On actor.
