EXCLUSIVE: Rajeev Khandelwal RECALLS when he wanted to touch Dev Anand’s feet; says, “He just moved backward”

Rajeev Khandelwal is a film and television actor, singer and host. He started his career directing the television series Filmy Chakkar. In 2018, he hosted Zee TV’s talk show Juzzbaatt. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rajeev Khandelwal recalls touching Dev Anand’s feet and to date remains a starstruck moment for him.

When asked about his star-struck moment in life, Rajeev Khandelwal said, “I was stuck when I went to meet Mr. Dev Anand. He even called me to his house, Dev Sahab is calling me, does he even know me? So when he called me and spoke to me over the phone, I said, ‘Dev Anand is talking to me, and he’s calling me to his house.’ So the only person I could take with me was my still camera. I went to his house and I said, ‘This one I want to document because, Dev Sahab, I don’t know how long he’ll be around.'”

He continued, “But when I went to meet him, I took a picture with him, and that picture is still with me. So I was actually just looking at him. And I was just looking at him as he was speaking. ‘What style, man! What style!’ I asked him, I actually asked him. I said, ‘Dev Sahab, I will be very honest with you. Is this real?’ And you get something from style, right? He said, ‘No, no, your skin.’ I have many, many memories of Dev Sahab from that one meeting because it was lovely.”

Rajeev concluded, ” I touched his feet. I don’t usually touch people’s feet; it means fake respect. But I went and touched his feet, and he just moved backwards and said, ‘Why are you touching my feet?’ I said, ‘Sir, because you really inspire me, then I should be touching your feet like you inspire me a lot.'”
