Rajveer Deol made an impressive debut recently with Dono, and he had some huge shoes to fill being Sunny Deol’s son. He belongs to the third-generation of actors in the Deol family that all started with the legendary Dharmendra. Right from the beginning, he has seen his family deal with success and failures. And in a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, he opened up on his dad’s bad phase in career.
Rajveer Deol on dad Sunny Deol’s low phase in career
Sunny has been one of the biggest stars of Hindi cinema during the 80s and 90s. However, he saw a dip in his career during the late 2000s and 2010s. During that phase, there were a lot of people who questioned Sunny’s relevance in the industry. When asked how it used to affect him as a child seeing his dad being questioned like that, Rajveer revealed it used to hurt him.
The young star shared, “I used to get hurt because I could not understand why wouldn’t he do anything about it. He never went out in the media or addressed it or anything. He didn’t try to do anything extra or a PR campaign to recover his image. That’s when I realized he has such a tough back. In polite words, he doesn’t give a s***. He’s really what you call a proper man right there. A person who just goes through murky waters and just continues, does what he believes and is such a pure soul. I can’t explain that journey of me experiencing that. All I can say in simple words, that’s a person who’s never going to give up.”
Sunny proved all the naysayers wrong with the magnanimous blockbuster he gave this year with Gadar 2. The film shattered box-office records and recorded highest footfalls for any Hindi film, crossing its predecessor. Gadar 2 crossed the Rs 500 crores mark at the Hindi box office. It now stands at number 2 in the highest grossing Hindi films list after Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. Rajveer is super proud of his dad’s achievements and it reflects in the way he speaks about him.
