Ratna Pathak Shah on OTT Platform
Speaking about it Ratna Pathak said, “Definitely it has to that’s our famous Indian speciality Overkill. If one person has done a good subject then 15 others will do the same thing. As it is very difficult to think of an original idea so they just copy the same thing. We are doing this for many years now. So this is part of the process.
She added, “I’m certain that there will be a lot of weaning out eventually that’s part of the process. But at the moment there are so many Indians writing their own stories telling stories from all parts of India. Today a story from Kerala is as easily accessible as a story from Kashmir. This is like a miracle for me. I come from a time when we had to wait hours and months that this movie will release.
“There were many films that we had no idea about when they were released and went. There were many International films we were just unable to watch. No one knew what is a Korean film nor a Japanese film. The access we have today is just unbelievable. How we utilise it is a different matter, whether we use it in a right manner or wrong but we will utilise it, she said.
Furthermore, while talking about OTT, Ratna Pathak Shah said, “OTT has been a superb disruptor. It has shaken everybody up. It’s made a lot of people realise that they are becoming dinosaurs. It has thrown out the fossils and I will become a fossil also very soon and I should equally be thrown out but till I’m there I’m going to keep trying and I’m going to do something different as much as I can. That I think is the most important part of the creative process. The desire to do something more and better than what you’ve done before.”
