Did you know Raveena Tandon rejected the iconic song Chaiyya Chaiyya? Yes, you read that right. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Raveena Tandon revealed she turned down the Shah Rukh Khan, Malaika Arora song as she didn’t want to get stereotyped. After doing Sheher Ki Ladki song, she didn’t want to do a song like Chaiyya Chaiyya.
Raveena Tandon on rejecting Chaiyya Chaiyya song:
In the interview, the Mohra actor revealed she was getting plenty of offers on doing item songs. Raveena told us, “In those days it was very easy to get stereotyped. For example, how many people would know that I left a song like ‘Chaiyya Chaiyya’ because I had just done ‘Sheher Ki Ladki’ and after that, I started getting offered only item songs.”
The KGF 2 actor continued, “And then, it became a norm that if Raveena is there, then there has to be a superhit song, and which I am very grateful for because till date, people also know me for my superhit songs, all of them are getting remixes, they are getting a new life, it’s all working out very well.”
Earlier, in 2019, Farah Khan spoke about the dance number at the International Film Festival Of India (IFFI) in Goa and said, “We had approached Shilpa (Shetty) to Raveena (Tandon), a lot of actors but no one did it. Malaika did the song and became a star after that.”
For the unversed, the Chaiyya Chaiyya song was also offered to Shilpa Shirodkar; however, it couldn’t happen as she didn’t fit the part. Well, after people’s rejection, Malaika Arora came on board and made the song an iconic one.
