In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rohit Shetty spoke about the time when stunt doubles and technicians didn’t receive much recognization and how his father M.B. Shetty’s journey is different from the others.
Rohit Shetty talks about the lack of recognition of stunt doubles
Speaking about the time when there was not enough recognition given to the stunt doubles, Rohit said, “Before Phool Aur Kaante there were no stunt awards also, it started from there. Many other departments for that matter. So, gradually the public is getting aware of it. Even kids are getting aware of it that if it’s stunts then it’s the action director who must have done it.”
Highlighting the difference between then and now, the director said, “There is an awareness of technicians now so, that makes a difference. I think we are quite fortunate enough, we had great technicians before but the kind of recognition we have got is amazing. We had technicians when we didn’t have CGI.”
The director opens up about his father M.B. Shetty’s journey
Rohit comes from an action-packed family background. For the unversed, his father Late actor M.B. Shetty was not only a popular actor but also a stuntman, fight composer and action co-ordinator. Further in the interview, Rohit Shetty spoke about the comparison between his father’s recognition as an action artist and the others in the field. He said, “For him, it was a bit different because he was an actor himself and quite popular – one of a kind.
