EXCLUSIVE: Sanjeeda Shaikh wishes to swap her role with Richa Chadha in Heeramandi: Lajjo’s character was beautiful

Sanjeeda Shaikh shines in the success of ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,’ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her portrayal of Waheeda has garnered praise from fans, with her character resonating deeply with the audience. Reflecting on her journey, Sanjeeda has been forthcoming in interviews, offering insights into her collaboration with Bhansali. The series is live on Netflix and audiences have been loving it. 

Sanjeeda Shaikh expresses desire to play the character of Lajjo

In a recent conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjeeda shared candid perspectives, including her admiration for Richa Chadha’s portrayal of Lajjo. She expressed, “I’ll be honest. I thought Lajjo’s character was beautiful. It was one of the most heart-touching performances according to me and the nuances of the performance she (Richa) did it so beautifully. So, If I have to do something else other than Waheeda, it could be Lajjo.”

Sanjeeda lauded Bhansali’s directorial prowess, emphasising his ability to push actors beyond their comfort zones. She remarked, “That’s the beauty of Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He will not make his actors do something in their comfort zone. He will make them come out of the box. And make them do something like this which as an actor I did not understand or I did not know my emotions and thoughts and potential to this level that I would do something like this. He brought out the best in me and I’m glad it’s him.” Sanjeeda credited Bhansali for tapping into her potential, enabling her to deliver a performance she hadn’t envisioned before.

Addressing her professional journey and working alongside Bollywood luminaries like Richa Chadha and others, Sanjeeda candidly shared her experiences. Despite any initial apprehensions, she embraced the opportunity, highlighting the collaborative and enriching atmosphere on set.
