Actor Shahid Kapoor starrer Farzi which was released on February 10 has garnered rave responses from the fans. In Farzi is Shahid’s debut in digital space but did you know that it was Shahid Kapoor who actually changed Farzi to episodic instead of a movie? During an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Shahid revealed that Raj and DK actually approached him for Farzi as a movie; however, he wanted an OTT show and feels better that way.
Shahid Kapoor on Farzi as a show:
When asked Shahid that Raj and DK approached him for Farzi as a movie, Shahid agreed but also revealed why he asked them for a show instead of a movie, the Haider actor said, “I knew the concept and they actually called me for a film and I asked them for a show and that’s actually how it happened. When they were surprised that I would want to do like an OTT show, then they shared with me that they have taken Farzi and have put it into the format of a show because it was too wide to encapsulate into a movie. They felt that it is coming together much better and that you can really get into the story and to get into the various facets of this world of counterfeiting. I had a sense of the story, then when I heard it, it kind of evolved into being slightly different kind of flow with characters whose personalities were different. You can spend more time and scenarios which you have to run through in a movie and eventually that’s what shapes your experience of a complete story. I feel and I have always said this that I am very happy that Farzi wasn’t a movie because it has very naturally fallen into the format of a show and it feels very right to me.”
Meanwhile, Farzi is a story about an artist who uses his talent for the wrong use. He draws fake notes and earns money from criminals. The show is created by Raj and DK and it also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna and Zakir Hussain. The show is currently streaming on Amazon Prime.
