EXCLUSIVE: Shalini Passi REVEALS she will treat son Robin’s wife like her ‘daughter’; says, “She’ll be important to me”

Shalini Passi has been a member of the Advisory Board of Khoj (a not-for-profit contemporary arts organisation based in Delhi). In 2018, Passi started The Shalini Passi Art Foundation, and MASH India. In an exclusive interview, Shalini Passi revealed that she will treat her son Robin’s wife like her daughter.

When asked about when her son Robin would introduce the girl in his life, Shalini Passi said, “So you know I have been watching women while growing up. And the Indian mothers when their kids are born are dedicated to their upcoming and household. It’s not a good or bad thing that I am saying but they tend to lose themselves while fulfilling these duties. Whether it’s your maasi, naani, taai ji or anyone, the mother gives so much to the child. It is fine but I never wanted to be such a mother. He has to have his own life, I am always gonna be there for him. But this thing was there in my mind and I saw this happening around us.”

The socialite added, “Every night after everyone was in bed, I was done with my chores. And I would take out time to follow my passion. It could be anything like reading about architecture or art, wanting to travel, paint, or learning a new technique. Anything that would have caught my attention then I would do. This has been me forever, whatever you struck me at that point would be something I would do. It was like a piggy bank, and I would drop 50 paise every night of learning.”

Shalini Passi on Robin’s wife will be her daughter

Shalini concluded, “And I was like someday I would use this. And God has allowed me to use this piggy bank now, at this point in my life. But for me, I have my work and my family. Sanjay and Robin give me the strength to do what I am doing and vice versa. We are like a team. And anyone who comes in will be my daughter because I don’t have a daughter. And she is gonna be as important as Robin is. I have brought him up as a very independent, responsible and loving child. I want him to be happy so, it’s his choice.”
