Sheeba Akashdeep on career getting over after dating or marriage

Talking about if actresses had a shelf life, she shares, “As a lead actor, this standard has always been there, but with actresses, it diminishes. Worldwide, it’s a known fact that actresses have a much shorter shelf life. I’ve seen it change now. But back then, forget about marriage, if you were in a relationship, people would say, ‘No, no, no one will sign her. You can’t be seen with anyone.’ Meaning, that if you loved someone, you had to do it secretly. You couldn’t tell anyone, not journalists or anyone else; you’d have to meet secretly because if it came to light, it would be over for you.”

The Jigra actress also asserts how married actresses were not given work. She says, “At that time, it was said that if people found out, you wouldn’t get films. That was the trend for heroines back then. And if you got married, it was the end, pack up and leave. But now, it’s not like that. All the top A-list actresses today are married. Literally, there’s hardly anyone unmarried. So, now people can say, ‘You can get a film from a married actress.’ Back then, what used to happen was that an actor’s work created a kind of web where personal life for actresses was just not allowed.” Sheeba also admits during the interview that she has also hid her affair. She claims she even did that with her secretary.
