EXCLUSIVE: Shekhar Suman praises Utsav co-star, says, “Lakhon actresses’ aati hai aur jaati hai, uske baad ek Rekha paida hoti”

Shekhar Suman made his acting debut with the erotic drama Utsav in 1984, alongside Rekha. In a career spanning over 3 decades, he has proved his versatility with stints such as hosting, acting and singing. He was recently seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Heeramandi as Nawab Zulfikar. In a fun chit-chat segment with Bollywood Bubble, Shekhar Suman is all praise for actress Rekha.

Shekhar Suman praises Utsav co-star Rekha

When the actor was asked to share what he thinks whenever he hears Rekhaji’s name, he shared, “Inke liye alag se ek interview dena padega. Ye toh unke saath jasti hogi aur mere saath bhi agar mein unke bare mein kam bolun toh. (It will be unfair to not only her but also me if I speak less about her). But all I can say is she is the most eternal and ethereal beauty within and outside as well. She is the most beautiful person on this earth. A tremendous actress, chahe unki awaaz ho, chahe unka gaana ho, shayari ho (be it her voice, singing ability or poetic skills), the way she understands life in its depth and entirety is amazing. Aise toh hazaro, lakhon actresses’ aati hai aur jaati hai, uske baad ek Rekha paida hoti hai. (Hundreds of actresses will come and go, but there is only one Rekha). So she is very very talented, pretty and very loving.

On Rekha’s professionalism

In an earlier interview with us, he also lauded Rekha’s professionalism when she shot despite IT Raid during Utsav shoot. “Rekha Ji is a thorough professional. On the first day of Utsav shoot, there was a massive Income Tax Raid at her house. And Shashiji came and broke the news. After this I thought my career is over as she might back out of the film and it will get shelved. But there she was. Rekha called Shashi Kapoor and said, ‘I am not going anywhere these are your debts. I will stay here no matter what happens let them open the house let them ransack. I am here shooting. And I thank Rekhaji as she saved my career.”
