Sonu Sood on action scenes from the film
Sonu Sood shared that he wanted to do something over the top in Fateh. While talking about the same, the actor said, “When I planned the action for the film, the biggest question for me was to do action that I had never done before in my life. I’ve worked with action directors from all over the country and made films in different languages, but I wanted to do something that I felt hadn’t been done before. That’s a big challenge, to figure out what kind of action hasn’t been seen yet.”
He also mentioned that his younger son had suggested an idea for an action sequence without any cuts, lasting three to four minutes in a single shot. Finding the concept exciting, he began structuring and designing it. As the sequence developed, he ensured that every punch and move was unique. He also reflected on how fights in films typically involve weapons but envisioned a scenario where everyday objects could be used creatively as weapons, which formed the basis of the sequence’s story.

Sonu further continued, “Often in our films, action is structured like the director says. There’s a climax, and we need an action sequence there; one before the interval and one at the start. Then some goons are brought in, and the action happens, someone flies in the air, someone falls, and someone lands on drums. That’s the basic structure. But rarely do we create a proper story around the action itself. I can’t recall many films where this was done. Maybe just a couple.”
The Fateh actor continued, “I started writing a story specifically for the action, the story behind every move and fight. We brought in Lee Whittaker, who worked on Captain Marvel, Fast & Furious, and Jurassic Park. When I shared the idea with him, he said it was a fantastic concept but pointed out that we don’t have many stuntmen in India who could pull off that level of action. So, I suggested bringing in talent from abroad. We brought in stuntmen from Mexico and South Africa. They trained and practised for about two and a half months just for that single shot. Finally, we were able to achieve that three-and-a-half-minute action sequence. I think it was one of the most challenging and exciting portions of the film.”
Fateh is all set to release on the 10th of January 2025. Apart from Sonu Sood, Jacqueliene Fernandez, Vijay Raaz, Naseeruddin Shah and Dibyendu Bhattacharya. will also be seen in the film. The film is directed by Sonu Sood.
