Sooraj Barjatya on Salman Khan’s Maine Pyaar Kiya jacket was a Tom Cruise inspiration
Talking about how his films became iconic with a jacket, cap or dog like Tuffy, Sooraj Barjtya said, “I don’t think this will happen, or that dress, but people have been very supportive. Today, many people aren’t here, but their support was there then. I remember, I can never forget, Anna Singh, who was my costume designer. I said I needed a cap, and she took it out and brought it for me.”
He added, “She designed it. The jacket was inspired by Tom Cruise. Then, I took it to Salman Bhai to show him the picture, and from there, the design came. I think as we age, the things we desire—how we want to be, how we want to become—everything comes with time. The tough times we’ve seen in homes, in buses, we’ve lived through it all. Everything I’ve actually lived through, that’s what I’m singing about. I haven’t done anything new.”
