Sunidhi Chauhan on facing rejections
The talented singer got her big Bollywood break with the song Main Mast from the movie Mast in 1999. Talking about rejections she faced before that, Sunidhi recalled, “I face a lot of rejections. I never counted but 3 to 4 times as far as I know. There were times when I reached the recording studio and there was a part for me to sing. I would sing just some alapas and chorus lines but they were either too high or low for me so it was difficult to manage so I was even asked to leave.”

Sunidhi Chauhan on Anu Malik fighting with the makers of Ajnabee
Sunidhi further revealed how Anu Malik trusted her with romantic ballads when no one else did. She told, “People insisted me to start following the industry trend which was high pitch and thin voice. I said I can sing softly it’s just that it is not the real me. After I sang for so many films and all was going well, it was still that one person Anu Malik who knew this side of me of singing soft numbers. Till then everybody thought that I could only sing these item numbers and fast-paced songs. I had worked with him so much, he had heard me sing in a softer voice and romantic songs of Lata ji. He fought with the directors of Ajnabee and insisted that he only wanted me to sing Meri Zindagi Mein. It was not supposed to be sung by me. It was some big singer song. But he fought for me. Once that happened I started getting romantic numbers. So it is always that one person who takes charge and decides. “
