Sushmita Sen is basking in the success of her recently released web series Taali. The actress played the role of a transgender. Even today, Sushmita is known as the one who made India proud on a national as well as international level. Sushmita won the pageant of Miss India when she was 18 and in 1994, she won the pageant of Miss Universe.
Now, we had the chance to have a conversation with the Taali actress on Bollywood Bubble’s exclusive interview. During the conversation, the actress spoke about winning Miss India and Miss Universe.
Sushmita Sen on winning Miss Universe
Sushmita Sen recalls joking off when someone told her to enter Miss India. She also recalled having a laugh with her mom about the same. That time, her mother told her to go and apply for it. Speaking about the same, Sushmita says, “I won Miss India, which I wasn’t expecting. And now comes the big onus of representing your country at Miss Universe, where India has never won before. So, you already have people saying ‘The best of the best have gone there and have not got it, where will this girl go.’ And, I’m thinking once in a lifetime opportunity. I want to go there wearing ‘India’ and comeback with something that no one has ever done before. I want to be India’s first. And that was driving enough force where just mummy, daddy, me and my brother were supporting me at that time. And of course, that support grew. I have to thank all my life, the country of Philippines for the amount of love and generosity they have showered upon me. And, when I won in the Convention Centre, forty thousand people, live, gave me a standing ovation.”
This isn’t all! Further in the interview, Sushmita also opened up about dealing with judgement and vulnerabilities. Apart from this, she also spoke about her daughters taking care of her after she suffered a heart attack.
