Tanishaa Mukerji on why she decided to freeze her eggs
In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Tanishaa talked about what came to her mind when she decided to freeze eggs and if she always wanted to do it. She said, “I have always believed that a child needs its father equally, just like it needs its mother. Having said that, it’s also important for me personally to find the right person. Just because there’s a biological clock, why rush yourself to find your man? I didn’t want to conceive back then and at the same time, I didn’t want to rule out the possibility of being a mother later on in life if I feel like conceiving. So, the best option was to freeze your eggs. I remember my doctor had initially stopped me from doing so as she said it might take a toll on my body. I was advised that I should do it when I have 0 hopes of conceiving a baby.”
She further added that it’s once a personal choice to have a baby or not have a baby also one can adopt. She added, “What I feel is that this matter of freezing eggs, or not freezing, having a baby or not having a baby is a personal choice. I feel it is perfectly okay to not have children. Why not adopt? There are so many people who need adoption? That’s always an option and I feel more people need to come and talk openly about this. It’s completely okay for women to not have children. I don’t think that’s their only calling in life, right? There’s more to life than getting married. It’s okay to not be in a relationship or always necessarily define yourself with a man beside you. It’s a personal choice and I think to each their own. All personal choices should be respected.”
Furthermore, the actress also spoke about her thoughts on having a kid via IVF and said, “I think as a mechanism it’s growing and there’s a long way to go. It’s very expensive and certainly something everyone needs to think about if they are opting. It’s not for everyone. But then, if you feel as a couple that it is the right way to go ahead, it is their personal choice. I am sure a couple who are mature enough to plan a baby will plan well using their senses and understanding every possible ramification. So yes, that’s what I have to say on this.”
