Met Gala 2024: Alia Bhatt looks exquisite in a floral Sabyasachi saree with a massive train

A while ago, Alia Bhatt made her second appearance at the Met Gala and looked exquisite. The ‘Brahmastra’ actress slayed at Met Gala 2024 in a soft pastel green-coloured saree by designer Sabyasachi. She paired it with matching jewellery from the same designer. The beautifully draped saree complements the theme: Garden of Time. It captures the essence of India – its heritage and tradition.

Talking about Alia Bhatt’s Met Gala 2024 look, the ‘Heart of Stone’ actress’ saree features intricate floral patterns and shimmering accents all along the 9-yards of fabrics. She paired the eye-catching fabric with a sweetheart neckline blouse adorned with a multi-coloured floral theme. The saree also features a 30-foot trail – a testimony of true craftsmanship that is heavily inspired by the past but has been made modern.

The saree’s colour is the perfect representation of the earth, sky and sea and the intricate detailing of flowers incorporate the theme of an ode to the gardens of time.  Alia’s saree has taken over 1965 man-hours to create by a team consisting of 163 members. It honours the narrative of JG Ballard’s short story ‘Garden of Time’, mirroring the blend of timelessness and visual delicacy. 

She accessorized her look with a complimenting headpiece, huge earrings and rings.

Alia shares her Met Gala look

A while ago, the actress took to social media and shared some high-resolution pictures with a long caption. She wrote, “Nothing embodies tradition and innovation like the saree; in the skilled hands of @sabyasachiofficial, this vision found its fullest expression. We looked to the past as a guide for the future, drawing inspiration from the timeless sophistication of Indian nobility. We focused on intricate craftsmanship, incorporating hand embroidery, precious stones, along with elegant beadwork and fringes, distinctive of the 1920’s fringe style.”

She continued, “Creating this has been quite an experience… fun and stressful in equal parts.” She concluded her lengthy post by writing, “As I wear this outfit, I feel incredibly grateful to embody this exquisite creation, a testament to boundless love and painstaking effort.’
