Vikram is a great actor from down south who has been a super star in the Tamil film industry. You might remember him as Aishwarya Rai's husband in 'Raavan', or from Bejoy Nambiar's 'David'.
Parambrata Chatterjee
He's the innocent police officer from Vidya Balan's 'Kahaani'. He has starred in numerous Bengali films, and directed a few as well.
Rana Daggubati
Rana Daggubati made his Bollywood debut alongside Bipasha Basu in 'Dum Maaro Dum', but that didn't work much at the box office. He bounced back with Akshay Kumar's 'Baby'. Baahubali's Hindi version made him popular yet again with the Hindi movie audience.
Dhanush
Dhanush marked his Bollywood debut with Sonam Kapoor’s much acclaimed film ‘Raanjhanaa’. Sadly, his next Bollywood film ‘Shamitabh’ could create magic at the box office. While he continues to work in the Tamil Film industry, we’re sure we’ll get to see more of him in Bollywood soon!
Ileana D’Cruz
A lot of actresses from south have made their way to Bollywood like Asin, Trisha and many more. She has worked in Telugu cinema since early 2000s, and made her debut with ‘Barfi’.
Prakash Raj
He is a known name down south and has been an actor in the Tamil and Kannada film circuits for decades now. He's also a film director, producer, and TV presenter. You'd know him from the various Hindi movies in which he has mostly played negative roles. And he's undoubtedly totally convincing in all the negative roles he has ever played.
Taapsee Pannu
Taapsee Pannu started her acting career in the Telugu film industry and worked there for over three years before making her Hindi film debut with 'Chashme Baddoor'. She struck the right chord with Akshay Kumar's 'Baby', when she had an action oriented role to play. You'll soon be seeing her alongside Amitabh Bachchan in 'Pink'.
Radhika Apte
Radhika Apte first came to Bollywood with ‘Shor in the City’ which didn’t do much for her. She took a break from Hindi and came with a bang with Films like ‘Hunterrr’, ‘Badlapur’, ‘Manjhi – The Mountain Man’. She has acted in both Marathi and Bengali cinema.
Diljit Dosanjh
The guy is actually Shah Rukh Khan of Punjab (no, seriously) and has done some great work there. Of course everyone knows about his singing skills which doubles up! But that doesn’t take away from the fact he is a brilliant actor as well. His film ‘Punjab 1984’ also won a National Award for best feature Punjabi film.
The Bollywood industry is no more about the lucky few born with silver spoons and get to reign. The time is changing gradually where Bollywood is blown by actors like Nawazuddin Siddiqui and many more definitely brought a ray of new kind of cinema to Bollywood. But more and more regional actors getting break in Bollywood hint that industry is becoming more flexible and accepting of supposed ‘outsiders’. With actors like Diljit Dosanjh made his debut with ‘Udta Punjab’ and is loved by audience for his role in the move. Not only this guy but off late there have been different regional stars from various part of country who have done some great job in Bollywood.
