‘Office Office’ – Musaddi Lal
Most of us have grown seeing this TV serial ‘Office Office’ which started in 2001. The show revolves around Musaddi Lal played by Pankaj Kapoor who is often harshly treated by the corrupt officials. The show also won Best Comedy award at the RAPA awards in 2001 and 2002. Even this show marked him as an actor on small screen.
‘Karamchand’ – Karamchand
He started off his career with this Indian Television serial ‘Karamchand’ wherein he played the role of the maverick detective and soon became popular for this role in the 1980s .
‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’– Kallumal ‘Koylawala’
‘Chameli Ki Shaadi’ is a 1986 Bollywood film directed by Basu Chatterjee. Though it was fairly average at the box office due to low cost but it was critically acclaimed. Pankaj Kapoor played the role of Kallumal in the movie who is the father of main character Chameli.
‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut’ – Dr. Dipankar Roy
‘Ek Doctor Ki Maut’ is a 1990 award winning film in which Pankaj Kapoor played the role of Dr. Dipankar Roy. He even won the National Award for his role in the movie.
‘The Blue Umbrella’ – Nand Kishore
One of the best work in his career includes ‘The Blue Umbrella’ which was a 2005 Indian drama film based on the novel, ‘The Blue Umbrella’ by Ruskin Bond and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film also won National Film Award for Best Children’s Film.
‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ – Tarneja
‘Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro’ is a 1983 comedy film directed by Kundan Shah. Pankaj Kapoor played the role of sleazy builder who was involved with corrupt Municipal Commissioner D’Mello (Satish Shah) in a deal.
‘Finding Fanny’ – Don Pedro
‘Finding Fanny’ is a 2014 Indian Comedy Film directed by Homi Adajania in which Pankaj Kapoor played the role of Don Pedro, a good for nothing artist. This time he was alongside big names of Bollywood like Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor , Dimple Kapadia and Naseeruddin Shah.
‘Dus’ – Jamwal
‘Dus’ is a 2005 Bollywood action spy thriller film based on the Indian Special Investigation Team (SIT) officers. In the movie Pankaj Kapoor played the role of Jamwal and impressed the audience again with his acting.
‘Dharm’ – Pandit Chaturvedi
‘Dharm’ was a movie that addressed the theme of communal harmony, directed by Bhavna Talwar starring Pankaj Kapoor and Supriya Pathak in lead roles. In the movie, Pankaj Kapoor played the character of Pandit Chaturvedi, a highly revered and learned Brahmin priest.The movie was premiered at the 60th Cannes Film Festival and became the closing film of the World Cinema Section at the festival.
‘Maqbool’ – Jahangir Khan
‘Maqbool’ is a 2003 Indian crime drama film directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. This movie gave a new turn to Pankaj Kapoor’s career. He played the role of Jahangir Khan (alias Abba Ji). ‘Maqbool’ got him National Film Award for Best Supporting Role in 2004.
Pankaj Kapoor is an Indian theatre, television and film actor who was interested in acting from the age of four. He has surely come a long way from ‘Arohan’ to his last release ‘Shaandaar’. Pankaj Kapoor is known for being very choosy about the roles he does and plays them to perfection. Many of his roles have got him National Film Awards. He is even termed as ‘Method Actor’.
