‘Kahaani 2’
This Sujoy Ghosh-directorial starring Vidya Balan failed to make a mark at the box office, the way its first instalment had done. However, one cannot ignore the fact that it is one of the best films of the year. It is one of the best films made on child abuse, and Vidya’s performance truly deserves accolades.
‘Dear Zindagi’
Alia Bhatt and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Dear Zindagi’ taught us how to be happy in our lives, even if we go through a bad phase. Gauri Shinde truly deserves a standing ovation for the way she narrated the film.
‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’
‘M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story’ starring Sushant Singh Rajput, was a biopic on the Indian cricketer, Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The film was a treat for the cricketer’s fans, and Neeraj Pandey managed quite well to feature his life on the silver screen.
‘PINK’
Amitabh Bachchan-starrer ‘PINK’ was simply outstanding. The film tackled the issue of molestation, slut shaming and moral policing. Big B, Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari’s performances were the highlight of the film.
‘Sultan’
After ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Salman Khan once again impressed us with ‘Sultan’. The film has a perfect combination of content and entertainment. And Salman and Anushka Sharma’s amazing performances made the film worth a watch.
‘Nil Battey Sannata’
Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ starring Swara Bhaskar was the sweetest film. The movie had strong content and was also quite entertaining. Surprisingly, it turned out to be a hit at the box office.
‘Kapoor & Sons’
One of the most relatable films of the year was ‘Kapoor & Sons’. It tackled a lot of relevant issues very subtly. Shakun Batra’s directorial was loved by everyone.
‘Neerja’
Based on the life of flight attendant Neerja Bhanot, ‘Neerja’ starring Sonam Kapoor was an exceptional film. The movie was set in the 80s, and the detailing about Neerja’s life and the era was simply outstanding. This is surely one of the best biopics ever made.
‘Dangal’
We have always seen that people save the best for the last, and that has happened in 2016 in Bollywood as well. There are no two opinions that Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Dangal’ is THE best film of 2016. The critics have praised it and it has also taken the box office by storm.
