Tiger Zinda Hai – Rs 206 Crore*
'Tubelight' may have been a debacle, but 'Tiger Zinda Hai' is money-making machine. The movie which has already collected over 206 crores in five days, is in no mood to stop its run. It has broken the record of 'Golmaal Again' and at this rate will emerge as the biggest blockbuster of 2017.
Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion – Rs 510 Crore
The biggest blockbuster of the year may not have been an outright Bollywood movie, but its box office for the Hindi version alone was more than many of the biggest movies that released this year.
Golmaal Again – Rs 205 Crore
Rohit Shetty belted out the fourth instalment and gave the comedy a twist of horror. Result? This Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra-starrer went on to break many records.
Judwaa 2 – Rs 132 Crore
The Varun Dhawan-starrer was the remake of superhit 1997 movie 'Judwaa', which starred Salman Khan. Replete with the recreated version of old songs, this one had to be a super success at the box office.
Toilet – Ek Prem Katha – Rs 132 Crore
After a string of movies failing at the box office, some of them which released with a lot of expectations, Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar's 'TEPK' came with a social message and a plot that the audience loved.
Raees – Rs 128 Crore
The Shah Rukh Khan-starrer released after much delay. Also, the Uri attack controversy which put a ban on Pakistani artistes too put the movie in a soup as the lead actress was Mahira Khan. However, the movie managed to rake in 100 crores even then.
Badrinath Ki Dulhania – Rs 114 Crore
The Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt-starrer was a small-town love story, next in the Dulhania franchise. The chartbuster songs and lead stars' cute chemistry was loved by all, and the movie was a big success.
Jolly LL.B 2 – Rs 107 Crore
Riding on the success of its predecessor which was a sleeper hit, this one starred Akshay Kumar. Needless to say, the star power combined with a good story was enough to bring in the moolah.
Kaabil – Rs 86 Crore
The Hrithik Roshan-starrer was the first movie of the year to rake in the moolah as the revenge-thriller went on to garner more than Rs 100 crore.
2017 has been quite a volatile year as far as box office successes are concerned, and an unpredictable one too. While the big guns failed to live up to the mark of the moolah, this year saw some of the smallest movies emerging as surprise hits.
