Rani Kapoor (Dostana)
Last but not the least. 'Dostana' was full of laughter and Kirron Kher's character in the film tickled our funny-bones straightaway. But if you look into it, there lies another layer of significance. How a mother immediately reacts on knowing that her son is a homosexual and how her love for child always wins is a touching tale. We love Kirron here!
Lol Bibi (Mangal Pandey)
'Mangal Pandey' is set in the backdrop of pre-independence India. Kirron Kher, in the film, runs a brothel and owns several women and earns through them. It's incredible how she managed to execute the most apt body language, expressions and language.
Ayesha (Khamosh Pani)
'Khamosh Pani' is a Pakistani film which featured Kirron Kher as a widowed mother who stayed with her only son in a village of Punjab which comes under Pakistan. Her son falls prey to the idea of 'Jihad' and join Islamic fundamentalists to make Pakistan a Muslim-ruled country. She has perfectly portrayed how a mother sees her son selling himself away to religious propaganda and puts in futile efforts to stop him. Kirron bagged the Lux Style Award in 'Best Actress' for this role.
Banalata (Bariwali)
'Bariwali' (The Lady Of The House) is a Bengali film made by celebrated filmmaker Rituparno Ghosh. Kirron Kher plays Banalata, whose fiance died the night before they were to marry. She has spent a very lonely, gloomy life which changes when a film unit comes to shoot at her place and she gets attracted to the lead actor. The love story remains unfinished as her letters are unanswered forever. Kirron again won a National Award (Best Actress) for this one.
Sardari Begum (Sardari Begum)
Sardari Begum, a popular singer, is killed in a riot which takes place in Delhi. A journalist tries to investigate the mother and finds out that she was none but her own aunt who was abounded by her family. Her performance in the film earned Kirron a Filmfare Award in the jury's choice category.
Very few actresses have been able to experiment with almost every genre of films and still sustain with glory. Kirron Kher is one of them. The actress has spent decades, delivering excellent performance on stage and on big screens. The gorgeous lady celebrates her 61st birthday. On this occasion, we have listed five characters she played that we love the most. Check out!
