Vicky Kaushal starrer Sam Bahadur is one of the most awaited movies of 2023. Vicky has stepped into the shoes of India’s first field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Going by the trailer of Sam Bahadur and songs, Vicky has absolutely killed it and how! The Meghna Gulzar directorial also stars Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub among others. While Sanya is playing the role of Silloo Manekshaw, Fatima plays former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Vicky thought he was not handsome enough to play Sam Manekshaw: At the trailer launch of Sam Bahadur, Vicky revealed that he thought he was not good looking enough for the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vicky said, “I remember when Meghna and I were working on Raazi, then during the shooting schedule in Patiala she told me what she wanted to do next. And she said she wants to make a film on Sam Manekshaw. My mother and father are both from Punjab, and through them, I had heard a lot about him. But I didn’t know how he looked. So during that conversation, I secretly Googled him and saw his photo. I said, ‘He is very handsome and I will get this role.’ But I have to thank Meghna for giving me the role of this handsome person.”

Vicky on how he prepped for the character: Vicky looks convincing as Sam Manekshaw in Sam Bahadur. Earlier, Vicky opened up about prepping for the role and said, “I have an album in my phone, which says ‘Sam’, which has about 275 pictures of him in ever posture of him – sitting and standing, and till now I haven’t come across any picture of him on Google or anywhere which is not on my phone. But that was the fun of it that we were just obsessed to create him as it was once in a lifetime opportunity for me to play a man like him. I wanted to give everything that I could.”

Patriotic films: Vicky is one of the most talented actors in Bollywood. He has been a part of films like Uri: The Surgical Strike, Raazi, and Sardar Udham. While he played the role of Major Vihan Shergill, he was seen as Pakistani armymen Iqbal Sayed in Raazi, and played freedom fighter Udham Singh in Sardar Udham. In Sam Bahadur, he is India’s first field Marshal Sam Manekshaw.
