‘Queen’
Even though ‘Queen’ was all about a girl who goes for her honeymoon all alone, but the man who was the real culprit behind the girl’s misery also deserves some credit. Raj Kummar played the role of Vijay in Kangana Ranaut’s highly acclaimed film ‘Queen’ and he did manage to stand out in it. Raj Kummar played the character of a guy who dumped his fiancee after considering himself too good for her, and later tries to crawl back to her. This could have been one boring performance, but Rao nailed it with his usual panache.
‘Kai Po Che’
In ‘Kai Po Che’, Raj Kummar Rao played the role of that sensible friend amongst the lot of three mad friends who knows what’s wrong and what’s right. All three stars viz Sushant Singh Rajput, Raj Kummar Rao and Amit Sadh did a marvellous job in the film, but it was Raj Kummar who stole the show.
‘Citylights’
‘Citylights’ was one film that portrayed the reality of a life filled with misery in a big city. Mumbai, a city that never sleeps, looks damn fancy, but when you dive down deep, the reality strikes and that’s what ‘Citylights’ is all about. Raj Kummar Rao portrayed the character of a poor man, who comes to this fancy city with his family to fulfil his dreams, and faces some not-so-delightful situations and the repercussions of the same. As expected, Raj Kummar narrated his role with so much of compassion that the audience could actually feel his pain. Well done Rao!
SHAHID_2n 30x40_FIN
No other actor would have fit as aptly as Raj Kummar Rao did in the character of Shahid Azmi in Hansal Mehta’s film ‘Shahid’. He bagged a national award in the category of best actor at 61st National Films Award ceremony. ‘Shahid’ portrayed a journey of a man who is falsely charged with the accusation of planning conspiracies to kill politicians who then goes on to become a lawyer after serving his jail term. It’s a hard-hitting story combined with Raj Kummar’s splendid acting.
‘Aligarh’
The recently released film had Manoj Bajpai and Raj Kummar Rao playing the lead characters. Raj Kummar played the role of a journalist in the film and what a hard working journalist he proved to be. The film was based on a real life story and both the stars managed to bring out that reality through their acting.
Raj Kummar Rao is someone who can be rightly called as the underdog of Bollywood. He is someone who has been constantly giving so much to the industry with his ace performances without any buzz. With his debut film itself, i.e., ‘Love Sex aur Dhoka’, Raj Kummar Rao sent out a clear message that he is here to create a name for himself on the basis of his talent. Hailing from Film and Television Institute of India Raj Kummar has proved that he can take up any kind of role and carry off with ease.
