Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra made their Bollywood debut with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year. Alia, Varun and Sidharth won hearts with their performances and chemistry in SOTY. From dialogues to songs, Student of the Year is remembered by fans for many reasons. Well today, Alia, Varun and Sidharth’s debut film completes 10 years. The film was released on 19 October, 2012.

Earlier today, Alia took to her Instagram and expressed her gratitude as SOTY completes 10 years. The actress shared a beautiful pic of hers and wrote, “10 years today… and I am so so grateful… EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I promise to be better – dream deeper – work harder!!!! Thank you for the magic… love love and only love.” Varun Dhawan dropped heart emojis on the post.

Reportedly, Krishna Shroff was offered a role in Student of the Year, but she declined the offer.

Alia had auditioned along with 400 girls for the role. In an interview with PTI, Karan had revealed that she did her test and was convinced that Alia had an X factor that could work for the film. He also revealed that he asked Alia to lose weight and she worked on herself for 3 months.

For her audition, Alia danced to the Bahara song from Sonam Kapoor and Imran Khan’s I Hate Luv Storys. Karan had revealed, “There was this young girl, straight out of school in Mumbai, who seemed very western in her approach and she just danced to Bahara, danced away. I knew there was something about this girl that would just connect with India.”

Alia was paid Rs 15 lakh for Student of the Year. In an interview with Mid-Day, Alia revealed, “I deposited the cheque straight to my mother and very nicely said, ‘Mamma, you handle the money’. Till date, my mother handles my money.”
