Dibakar Banerjee
Dibakar Banerjee has his own sense of treating the subject and coming out beautifully. He came out with movies like ‘Khosla Ka Ghosla’ and ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ both of which won National film awards. His 2015 flick ‘Detective Byomkesh Bakshy!’ was appreciated for some great quality of direction.
Kanu Behl
He worked with Dibakar Banerjee as an assistant director for ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ and ‘Love Sex aur Dhoka’ and he finally got his big break with ‘Titli’. The film won many awards internationally.
Luv Ranjan
Luv Ranjan directed ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ and its sequel. Credit goes to him how perfectly he captured the urban youth’s life on the screen!
Neeraj Ghaywan
Not many know, Neeraj Ghaywan was assistant director during ‘Gang of Wasseypur’. He won many hearts last year with his movie ‘Masaan’ not only in India but also at the Cannes Film Festival and that says a lot about his work.
Neeraj Pandey
Neeraj Pandey won many hearts by his movie ‘A Wednesday’. He struck again by movies like ‘Baby’ and ‘Special 26’.
Vikramaditya Motwane
‘Udaan’ was directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The film was a big hit and had a great connect with the youth. And then he directed ‘Lootera’, which still remains to be one of the most underrated films of Bollywood.
Shakun Batra
This cute looking director had been assistant director in ‘Rock On!!’, ‘Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na’ and ‘Don 2’. Shakun Batra got his first big break with Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ in 2012. The movie didn’t do well at the box office. Shakun Batra came in the limelight after he directed this year's blockbuster release ‘Kapoor & Sons’. The story revolved around the dysfunctional typical Indian family and well he portrayed modern day relationships perfectly on screen.
Homi Adajania
He has made totally different movies till now. He came out with movies like ‘Being Cyrus’, ‘Cocktail’ and his last release was ‘Finding Fanny’ which surely proved he has different style of filmmaking.
Abhishek Chaubey
Abhishek Chaubey was an assistant director to Vishal Bhardwaj in movies like ‘Makdee’, ‘Maqbool’ and ‘Omkara’. This clearly shows that he has learnt his craft from the best. Abhishek Chaubey made it big with ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Dedh Ishqiya’. And while ‘Udta Punjab’ has released, we can surely say full points to daring of Abhishek Chaubey to bring out such a grave subject and fighting for it.
Bollywood is the place where directors like Yash Chopra and Karan Johar ruled for many years. But we believe the time has changed and now Bollywood movies are all about thinking out of the box! We saw a new wave of Bollywood cinema that brought directors like Anurag Kashyap, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Puneet Malhotra, Imtiaz Ali, Shoojit Circar and Ayan Mukerji. But there are a lot others too who are contributing to this change. They’re young and rising directors of Bollywood who brought a fresh vision to the Indian cinema. They have new tales to tell, take on some major issues, different ideas that Bollywood has never seen before. We appreciate the fact and thank them for giving a new face to Bollywood. The audience is loving this new change and honestly we don’t mind either after all we are getting to see good cinema.
