Alia Bhatt to Anushka Sharma: Bollywood actresses who smashed the patriarchal norms by working during pregnancy

Just recently, actor Alia Bhatt amazed everyone when the pictures of her baby bump were seen during the shoot of her Hollywood debut film, Heart Of Stone. Fans were amazed to see her fiercely completing her shoot even during her pregnancy. Having said that, we came to know that earlier, Bollywood actresses like Jaya Bachchan, Juhi Chawla and Sonali Bendre were working when they were pregnant.

Interestingly, Dimple Kapadia was reportedly pregnant while shooting for Bobby. She was expecting her first child with the late actor Rajesh Khanna. Jaya Bachchan was expecting her first child with Amitabh Bachchan while they were shooting for Sholay. On the other hand, Juhi was seven months pregnant when she was shooting for Jhankar Beats.

The Gangubai Kathiwadi actor was shooting for Heart Of Stone with Gal Gadot during her pregnancy phase. Alia Bhatt announced her pregnancy on June 27 with Ranbir Kapoor.

Anushka Sharma:

When she was expecting her first child, Anushka was busy working for many brands. Though not films, Anushka shot for a couple of TVCs and brand endorsements when she was pregnant.

Kareena Kapoor Khan:

Bebo filmed the Hindi remake of Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha while she was pregnant with her son Jehangir Ali Khan. Kareena said that Jeh was very much part of the movie as he was in her ‘tummy’. Sharing the trailer Kareena wrote in the caption, “A pandemic, two lockdowns, and a Baby later… one of my most special films… also because my Jeh baba is very much a part of it (in my tummy) Thank You Advait and Aamir for having not just me but the both of us in it… it’s something I will cherish forever Over to you guys, finally… #LaalSinghChaddha (sic)”

Neha Dhupia:

Neha played a pregnant cop in a thriller, A Thursday. But did you know, she was pregnant during the shoot for Yami Gautam starrer? She shared a note on Instagram thanking the makers for giving her all the support and believing in her. She said, “This ones for all the mamas in the making … we make us stronger.”
