The two are scheduled to be released on November 1 and fans are pumped up and equally worried to see which one emerges as the winner. Secret Superstar vs Golmaal 4 in 2017
It was a clash between the Ishq stars – Aamir Khan and Ajay Devgn. Both Secret Superstar and Golmaal 4 were released during Diwali and both of them did well at the box office. Golmaal Again emerged as one of the highest-grossers of the year, earning around Rs 205 crore domestically and Rs 311 crore internationally. Secret Superstar grossed Rs 965 crore worldwide and was also the highest-grossing film of 2017.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay in 2016
The clash between Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Shivaay stirred controversy. During the release, Karan Johar and Ajay Devgn both tried to avert the clash; however, they failed to do so. This clash even ruined the friendship between KJo and Kajol. Nevertheless, Ranbir Kapoor’s movie collected over Rs 237 crore at the box office, while Shivaay earned Rs 124 crore.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan vs Son of Sardaar in 2012
One of the biggest clashes of all time was between Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar. Diwali was lit when SRK locked horns with Ajay Devgn at the box office. Yash Chopra’s last movie crossed the Rs 100 crore mark whereas SoS raked in Rs 88 crore at the box office.
Golmaal 3 Vs Action Replayy in 2010
Rohit Shetty once again arrived on Diwali 2010 with Golmaal 3 which clashed with Action Replayy. Both released on November 5, Ajay Devgn’s comedy franchise collected Rs 108 crore beating Akshay Kumar starrer which earned Rs 28 crore at the box office.
Golmaal Returns Vs Fashion in 2008
Rohit Shetty arrived with Golmaal Returns for the first time in Diwali along with Fashion at the box office. The two movies clashed at the box office on October 29 and both of them were loved by many. While the former one earned Rs 51 crore, the latter collected Rs 26 crore at the box office.
Om Shanti Om Vs Saawariya in 2007
Another big clash that fans just couldn’t wait to witness was between Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. On one side, Om Shaanti Om starred SRK on the other hand, Saawariya was directed by SLB. But unfortunately, the former one won the race when it minted Rs 78 crores whereas Ranbir Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor starrer which was also mounted as big budget movie fared Rs 20 crore.
Don Vs Jaan-E-Mann in 2006
It was Shah Rukh Khan vs Salman Khan at the box office in 2006 when Don and Jaan-E-Mann clashed together. This clash was a big deal as the fans were going to witness two superstars together on the big screen. However, talking about the box office collections, Shah Rukh starrer earned Rs 50 crores whereas Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar starrer raked in half of Don’s collection.
Veer Zaara Vs Aitraaz Vs Naach in 2004
In 2004, three movies Veer Zaara, Aitraaz and Naach were released on the same day, 12 November. In this Diwali clash, Shah Rukh Khan – Preity Zinta starrer turned out to be the winner as it earned Rs 41 crore at the box office. Even Akshay Kumar starrer did decent as it earned Rs 15 crores while Naach raked in Rs 3 crores.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jaaenge Vs Yaarana in 1995
This would be the first Diwali clash that Bollywood has ever witnessed. Back in 1995, Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol starrer clashed with Madhuri Dixit starrer in Diwali as both of them released on October 20. It is quite certain that DDLJ emerged as an all-time blockbuster as it has achieved cult status.
