Veteran music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri’s demise has left fans in a shock. The 69-year-old was admitted to CritiCare Asia Multispeciality Hospital, Mumbai, where he took his last breath. The Disco King of Bollywood passed away due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea).  Not many know that the singer-composer was related to legendary singer Kishore Kumar.  There are many facts about Bappi Lahiri unknown to his fans, one of them being that his real name is  Alokesh Lahiri.

Also, Bappi Da as he was lovingly addressed had marked his debut in the 1970s and went on to rule the 70s and 80s with his party anthems. Bappi Lahiri’s last song for a Bollywood film was Bhankas from the 2020 film Baaghi 3. In the same year, he sang the track Rum Pum Bum for Ravi Teja’s Telugu film, Disco Raja. He was last seen on Salman Khan’s reality show Bigg Boss 15.

Bappi Da’s name is in the Guinness Book of World records for recording over 180 songs for 33 films released during a single year (1986).

The veteran singer wears 8-9 gold chains every day. If reports are to be believed, Bappi Lahiri owned 754 grams of gold jewellery. This was way back in 2014. His first was a Hare Krishna gold chain that he treasures the most. Last year he had bought a gold tea set for Dhanteras.
