Alia Bhatt (‘Udta Punjab’)
Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan recently stated that Alia Bhatt should get a National Award for ‘Udta Punjab’ and we 100% agree with them. Alia was outstanding in the film.
Shahid Kapoor (‘Udta Punjab’)
Shahid Kapoor as Tommy Singh was nothing less than exceptional in ‘Udta Punjab’. He once again proved that he can portray any character given to him. One of the best performances of his career.
Radhika Apte (‘Phobia’)
Radhika Apte is a great performer and that she proved with films like ‘Badlapur’ and ‘Manjhi’. However, with ‘Phobia’ she proved that she can carry a whole film on her shoulder. The actress is mind-blowing in the film. We are sure the jury will find it difficult next year to decide whom they should give best actress award.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (‘Sarbjit’)
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the second surprise this year. When it was announced that Aishwarya will play the role of Dalbir Kaur in ‘Sarbjit’, a lot of people thought that she will be a miscast. However, Ash’s performance in this film is the best performance of her career till date. We won’t be surprised if she wins awards for it.
Randeep Hooda (‘Sarbjit’)
Randeep Hooda played the titular role in ‘Sarbjit’. And believe us or not, the actor has given an award winning performance. He was brilliant in the film and made us feel the pain of the character he played.
Swara Bhaskar (‘Nil Battey Sannata’)
Swara Bhaaskar had made a mark as a supporting actress with films like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’, etc. But, this year she starred in ‘Nil Battey Sannata’ in which she played the lead role. Swara once again impressed one and all with her great performance.
Shah Rukh Khan (‘Fan’)
Shah Rukh Khan’s performance in ‘Fan’ is said to be one the best performances of his career. The 50-year-old actor played the role of a 25-year-old lookalike fan fantastically.
Fawad Khan (‘Kapoor & Sons’)
While in his debut film ‘Khoobsurat’, Sonam Kapoor stole the show with her over enthusiastic performance, in his second outing in Bollywood actor Fawad Khan simply won our hearts. He was excellent in ‘Kapoor & Sons’ and his matured performance was the highlight of the film.
Sonam Kapoor (‘Neerja’)
The biggest surprise of 2016 is Sonam Kapoor. No one had expected that the actress could pull off such a strong role. With ‘Neerja’, Sonam proved that she is not just in Bollywood to be an eye candy.
Tabu (‘Fitoor’)
‘Fitoor’ is surely one of the worst films of 2016. But, the only good thing in this bad movie was Tabu. Her performance in the film was award worthy.
Akshay Kumar (‘Airlift’, ’Housefull 3’)
Akshay Kumar has three releases this year. Two of his releases – ‘Airlift’ and ‘Housefull 3’ – have already hit the screens and with both the films, he proved that he is one of the most versatile actors of Bollywood. He was excellent in ‘Airlift’ and successfully tickled our funny bone in ‘Housefull 3’.
Amitabh Bachchan (‘Wazir’)
At the age of 73, Amitabh Bachchan still has a charm to carry a whole film on his shoulder. After ‘Piku’ last year, this year he impressed us with his performance of a wheelchair bound man in ‘Wazir’.
Six months of 2016 are already over. We have seen amazing Bollywood films in this first half of the year. While some films were successful at the box office, some failed to make a mark. But in these six months, there are many actors who impressed us with their performances. From some actors we had expected great performances, but then some proved to be a surprise package.
