This morning, Bollywood woke up to an unfortunate news. Renowned Indian classical vocalist Kishori Amonkar’s had passed away. Aged 84, she was a legendary Indian classical vocalist who had lent her voice for a few Bollywood numbers too. She had did playback singing for Bollywood films like ‘Geet Gaya Patharon Ne’ and ‘Drishti’.

Soon after the news of her demise was known, Bollywood celebs like Sonam Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Manoj Bajpayee, musical composers duo Vishal–Shekhar, Shankar Mahadevan, Ashutosh Gowariker and others came on social media to express condolences. Kishori Amonkar was the recipient of national honours like Padma Bhushan in 1987 and Padma Vibhushan in 2002.
