India is a country where having fair skin is a matter of pride, as most of us are obsessed with fair skin. There are many skin whitening brands that endorse their beauty product catering to the demands of youngsters, thus catering to irrational hysteria among the new generation. The demand rises to a new high due to popular Bollywood celebrities endorsing fairness products.
Yes though there are many popular Bollywood celebrities endorsing fairness creams and indirectly promoting racism. But there are some who understand the responsibilities that accompany their public persona. They avoid promoting things that are harmful to society one of them being the promotion of fairness products. Recently we had actress Esha Gupta joining the list of celebs who have refused to promote skin whitening products. The Diva revealed that a brand had sued her as she refused to endorse their skin whitening products.
Not only Esha Gupta, many popular Bollywood celebrities like Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Abhay Deol and more have clearly refused to promote any fairness product. As they feel it promotes a false notion of beauty.
