When guys-next-door fell in love, and turned… poets
It’s World Poetry Day today and rather than going the cliched way and bringing to you some of the heaviest poetic lines, let us take you through the times when our Bollywood actors as normal next-door-guys turned amateur poets, to woo their ladyloves. They are cheesy, they are over the top, but they are totally lovable, and will bring a smile to your faces. Check out.
Kal Ho Naa Ho
"Laal mere dil ka haal hai, lagta tum pe kamal hai, yeh tohfaa nahi sawaal hai, kya Subhash Ghai ki picture taal hai?" When Rohit (Saif Ali Khan) sent the red dress to Naina (Preity Zinta), with this amateur poem, we just melted into a puddle of mush.
Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
"Tum pehle bhi itni khoobsurat thi, ya waqt ne kiya koi haseen sitam." Bunny (Ranbir Kapoor) was a born flirt. But when he was smitten by Naina (Deepika Padukone) yet again, we were flattered with this cheesy yet adorable line.
Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge
"Mere dil jigar liver ho tum, waqt bewaqt jo aye wo fever ho tum, ab to meri zindagi me forever ho tum." And with these stupid yet 'dil se' lines, Vishal (Saqib Saleem), went down on his knees for Preity (Saba Azad).
Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela
"Isse badi saza kya hogi, ki jaan bhi nikaal li, aur zinda bhi chod diya." A straight arrow to the heart, from Ram (Ranveer Singh) to Leela (Deepika Padukone), and by extension, all of us.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
"Har ishq ka ek waqt hota hai, wo humara waqt nahi tha par iska matlab ye nahi, ki woh ishq nahi tha." This dialogue is originally said by Imran (Rishi Kapoor), when Samar (Shah Rukh Khan) and Meera (Katrina Kaif) meet latter's mother. However, it is used beautifully at the end by Samar as well.
Mohabbatein
"Koi pyaar kare, to tumse kare, tum jaise ho, waise kare. Koi tumko badal ke pyaar kare, to wo pyaar nahi, sauda kare. Aur Sahiba, pyar me sauda nahi hota." Some lines, straight from the heart, said by Sanjana (Kim Sharma) first for her father. And then, Sameer (Jugal Hansraj) reminds her the same. Sweet.
Om Shanti Om
"Itni shiddat se maine tumhe paane ki koshish ki hai, ki har zarre ne mujhe tumse milane ki koshish ki hai." Probably a line which will be used again and again. A junior artist Om (Shah Rukh Khan) falls head over heels for a superstar Shanti (Deepika Padukone), and utters these magical words.
Dil Se..
"Mujhe humare beech ki ye dooriyan bahot pasand hain. Agar ye na rahen to mujhe tumhare kareeb aane ka bahana na mile." And thus, a journalist Amarkanth (Shah Rukh Khan), confesses his love to a femme fatal Meghna (Manisha Koirala) unaware of what the future held for them.
Namastey London
"Ishq de mere mitra pehchaan ki, mit jaave jadon zid apnaan di." The lines by Arjun (Akshay Kumar), when he tells Jasmeet (Katrina Kaif) of a futuristic scene, and what she says, on love.
Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
"Main aap ko tum banane aya hun." And lo and behold, a younger lad Ayan (Ranbir Kapoor), falls for an older poetess Saba (Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), with the charm rubbing on him to utter these poetic words.
