Ki & Ka
Food products, beauty products and property, ‘Ki & Ka’ had everything in it. From Lakme, to Saffola oil to Kalpataru; Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor starrer is the perfect example of in-film branding.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
This Sonam Kapoor and Salman Khan starrer could have easily been a television commercial for Haldiram. They have shown the banners and the food packs of Haldiram so many times, that we too start feeling hungry while watching the film.
Mary Kom
Priyanka Chopra starrer was a biopic on Mary Kom directed by Omung Kumar. It had brand promotions of Iodex balm, Tata Salt and Usha fans.
Satyagraha
This Prakash Jha directorial had many brand promotions in it. But, the most attention grabbing one was of India Gate Basmati Rice. We saw Amrita Rao cooking India Gate Basmati Rice in the flick.
Chennai Express
‘Chennai Express’ had a scene where Shah Rukh Khan explains the features of a Nokia mobile phone and also informs the audiences about the price of the phone.
Dabangg and Dabangg 2
Forget just the brand being shown in film; ‘Dabangg’ had a song which had the lyrics, ‘Zandu Balm Hui, Darling tere’. But, this branding was done without the brand’s permission and that’s why later, the brand sued the makers of the film. Like ‘Dabangg’, even ‘Dabangg 2’ had an item song whose hook phrase was, ‘Chipka le saiyan Fevicol se’. So, the promotions of Zandu Balm and Fevicol happened quite well in these Salman Khan starrers.
Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish
‘Koi Mil Gaya’ had brand endorsements of Bournvita and Hero cycles in it. We can never forget the adorable style in which Hrithik Roshan said ‘Bournvita’. In the sequel of the film too the makers promoted Bournvita and we saw Rekha using Tide powder.
There was a time when brand promotions aka advertisements were only seen on TV or at the hoardings on the road. But, then a new trend started in Bollywood. The trend of in-film branding which means movies have brand promotions in it. Many movies featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, etc have had promoted the concept in full swing.
