Awesome visuals
Set in Rajasthan, 'Dhanak' explores some beautiful shots as Pari and Chotu begin with their road trip to Jaisalmer. To make viewers an integral part of this journey, cinematographer Chirantan Das deserves the credit for his outstanding camerawork. Awesome visuals is one of the prime highlights behind the strong remembrance of each and every step of Pari and Chotu's journey.
Pure sound of music
As we ended the previous slide on the mention of word 'right note', Tapas Relia comes in our minds who has composed the beautiful music and background music of 'Dhanak'. Each and every song from this film completely flows with the narrative and sets the mood perfectly. Be it ‘Dum-A-Dum Mast Qalandar’ along with the new modern rhythm touch to it or the soulful tracks ‘Jeene Se Bhi Zyada’ and ‘Chal Chalein’, every track has that pure soul in it.
Pillars of support
The actual narrative of 'Dhanak' is the road journey on which Hetal and Krrish set out. This interesting journey is rather incomplete without those moments of Pari and Chotu with every person they meet on this trip. The film consists an ensemble bunch of actors like Vipin Sharma, Suresh Menon, Vijay Maurya, Bharati Achrekar, Vibha Chibber and Gulfam Khan in roles which have less screen time but leave a good mark with their respective presence. The chemistry of Hetal and Krrish would not have been that magical unless their tuning with these senior artists was set on the right note.
The master storyteller
'Dhanak' seals the stamp that Nagesh Kukunoor is the most relevant independent storyteller we have today. The writer and director much known for his earlier films like 'Iqbal' and 'Dor' actually delivers a very fine perspective of young children through his light-hearted screenplay. It never fails to let your attention slip in those almost two hours of run time. Without a doubt, definitely this is his best work till now.
Chotu and Pari – The backbones
Krrish Chhabria and Hetal Gada or more aptly we would address them as Chotu and Pari, are the backbones of 'Dhanak'. Krrish and Hetal carry this film on their shoulder and certainly their performance stays with you intact after the film ends. Krrish's body language as he performs a visually impaired and Hetal's maturity being an elder sister handling those responsibilities leaves a great impression. Describing both their performance in one line we could easily recount the phrase that big surprises come in small packages.
Filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor’s ‘Dhanak‘ has released today and as expected, this sweet little bond between a sister and her blind brother who set out on a road trip trying their best efforts to cure his eyesight is winning hearts. The film is an endearing tale with a Midas touch of many brilliant minds behind this creation. After watching this gem, we couldn’t list down points which indeed turn this film into a sheer masterpiece.
