She kept across her opinion on a row of topics including Swara Bhasker's controversial letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the debate of standing up to national anthem at theatres, her fondness for PM Narendra Modi.
On being a fan of Narendra Modi
"I am a big Modi fan. We need to have a good role model. Modi's victory was not just his victory. the fact that a chai wala won is a victory of the democracy," she said, speaking of her admiration for the Prime Minister of India.
On chances of joining politics
She also revealed she is cool with joining politics, given she doesn't have to change the way she dresses. "Personally, I feel politics is a wonderful field. Politics is often misunderstood. But what I don’t like is that fashion sense of politicians. Don't mind entering politics if they don't change my fashion sense," she added.
On Nationalism
The debate of standing up compulsorily as the National Anthem plays before each film, has been going on forquite some time now. Kangana thinks the argument itself is pointless here. " I'm what my country is. Why are you ashamed of your nation. When Americans stand up to the national anthem, they do it with hands to their heart then why are we ashamed to do that Self respect of our people needs to rise. Nowadays, it's cool to say bad things about your own nation. The young generation is always complaining. This attitude is not okay. Desh ganda hai toh aap mehmaan hain kya? Saaf karo,"
On Swara Bhasker’s open letter to SLB
The climax of 'Padmaavat' has been termed regressive by many. Actress Swara Bhasker wrote an open letter to the makers on that ground and was severely backlashed, including the makers sending out a far more harsh response.. "The way she was bullied was our loss. As a society we failed. She's a legitimate artist and she has a right. I personally didn't agree but somewhere deep down I was pleased. It was heart breaking to see how she was treated for her piece. I'm sure Swara might not be affected by it. She'll come back in 6 months and write again. But million of other women will get affected and be wary of voicing their opinion," Kangana said, when asked about it.
On being an outsider in Bollywood
She ran away from home at an early age and has made her mark in Bollywood solely banking on her own willpower and ability. Kangana's philosophies, however, are simple. he kind of work I want to do, I am still doing it. The people who I want to collaborate with creatively are still there, the people I don't care about, so be it, so it's okay. With power comes lot of sacrifices. Fear is an internal process. It's not something someone else will instill in you.I don't want to be fearful even when I get hurt. I say things which look evident to me. When I speak out I get love, I live an open life, but the price is stress. I don't care about materialistic gains," she says.
Kangana Ranaut was present at this year’s News18 Rising India Summit wherein she spoke at length about a number of contemporary issues and debates.
