Chapora Fort, Goa
The scene where Akash, Sameer and Sid are seen chilling in Goa, is shot at the Chapora Fort. The Fort became so famous after the movie, the place was addressed as Dil Chahta Hai Fort.
Sosa’s shop, Panaji
Some scenes from the title track of the movie were shot outside Sosa's shop in Panaji which is famous for unique Indian clothes.
Mahabaleshwar
The song 'Woh Ladki Hai Kahan' picturised on Saif Ali Khan and Sonali Kulkarni was shot in bits and pieces in Mahabaleshwar. The scene where the two are seen dancing on the cliff was shot there. It's become a popular tourist spot for many couples now.
Waverley Cemetery
A scene from the soulful track 'Tanhayee' was shot at the Waverley Cemetery, Australia. In the scene, we see Akash (Aamir Khan) standing near a graveyard and walking through the pathway. A graveyard never looked so un-scary!
Sydney Harbour Bridge
Then, in the same song, we see him sitting on a railing with the bridge right behind him. It's the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was again shown when Akash and Shalini (Preity Zinta) are seen admiring the bridge in the song 'Jaane Kyun'.
Sydney Opera House
The makers also sought permissions to shoot a scene at the Sydney Opera House. The scene in question is the one where Preity Zinta and Aamir Khan's characters watch an Opera show.
Macquaire Lighthouse
Remember the scene where Aamir Khan's character is seen sitting on the edge of a fence with the backdrop of mountains and the light house? Well, that scene from the song 'Tanhayee' was shot near Macquaire Lighthouse.
Hyde Park
The song 'Jaane Kyun' which has Aamir Khan and Preity Zinta's characters dancing and singing in a park was shot at the oldest parkland in Australia called as Hyde Park.
A story of friendship for life interspersed with beautiful locations around the world, ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ showed us the unbreakable bond between three friends, featuring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna.
