Shooting in St. Stephen’s college
The place where Madhav meets Riya for the first time is at St. Stephen's college, New Delhi. Leaving no stone unturned, the makers shot the college scenes of the film at this college itself. 'Half Girlfriend' is one of the few films to be allowed to shoot there. Isn't that exciting?
Associated with the National Basketball Association (NBA)
Arjun and Shraddha play basketball players in the movie. Both of them were trained by the top NBA coaches who flew down from the US. NBA, National Basketball Association is the world's top basketball league and also is the official partner of the film. 'Half Girlfriend' is the first Hindi film to be associated with NBA.
Bihar government’s full cooperation
The film's lead star Arjun Kapoor is playing the character of Madhav Jha who hails from Bihar. The actor has also undergone dialect training for this. When the team of 'Half Girlfriend' went to shoot for some crucial scenes in the rural area of Bihar, they received a warm welcome and full cooperation from the government to shoot there. These scenes have got a perfect authentic look.
First Indian film to be shot at UN headquarters
'Half Girlfriend' is the first Indian film to be shot inside the UN headquarters, New York, United States. The UN officials appreciated the positive message the film carries, particularly around the primary rural education in India. It would be quite unique to see those stunning visuals of UN headquarters.
New York City like never before
The ones who have read the book would know that the climax of the film is set in New York. Director Mohit Suri and cinematographer Vishnu Rao wanted to shoot this city like never before. Following this, both of them took the special FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) permissions to fly out on a custom-fitted, gyro-stabilizing camera equipped helicopter at 4 am to get some shots that would be an absolute visual delight for the fans and moviegoers. Well, sounds quite interesting.
Another melodious musical treat in the offering
Director Mohit Suri has a good ear for music. After 'Aashiqui 2', 'Ek Villain' and 'Hamari Adhuri Kahani', the expectations are naturally high, as far as the soundtrack of 'Half Girlfriend' is concerned. Reportedly, it has taken the composers a whole year to create the music for this film. It has also been said that the movie will feature the longest song in Indian cinema, which will be 18-minutes long. Sung by Arijit Singh, the song will be played at a crucial juncture in the movie.
Just few days have passed since the motion poster of filmmaker Mohit Suri’s upcoming ‘Half Girlfriend‘ was released online. The onscreen chemistry of Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor won us over, and the backdrop of snow flakes with instrumentals was equally mesmerising. Be it the winning team of Shraddha Kapoor and Mohit Suri, who are coming back after ‘Aashiqui 2’ and ‘Ek Villain’, or the winsome pair of Arjun and Shraddha, this rom-com is awaited for many reasons.
