Nargis Fakhri began her career as a model at a young age. The actress made her acting debut with a female lead role in Imtiaz Ali’s romantic drama Rockstar. Post that, Nargis starred in Madras Café, Main Tera Hero, Spy and Housefull 3. Nargis is one of the stars in Bollywood who never shies away from speaking her mind. Well, she is celebrating her 43rd birthday today. And on that occasion, here are some shocking revelations made by the actress.
Nargis had once revealed that people warned her against taking break in Bollywood. Speaking with Pinkvilla, she had said, “I never had a day off or I would have only a day off. But when you have 1 day off and your friends and family are like 24 hours plane ride, how do you actually get to go see them and recharge? There came a point when I had to ask myself, why am I working so hard when I can’t even enjoy the fruits of my labor? So I had to make a decision.”

She added, “Initially, I said that I need a few months off and people were like if you are going to take a few months off, you are going to be gone. You will just disappear off the map. But then I had to just take that chance and I am happy that I took that chance. I am happy that I wasn’t scared into continuing in that rat race.”
In an interview with Brut India, Nargis recalled her worst time in Bollywood and said, “Everyday there was a new guy I was with in the paper. But the funny thing was that this lady journalist came up to me at an event and said ‘Oh hi Nargis. So nice to meet you. So tell me how does it feel to be with all the B-town stars?’ And the way she said it was insinuating that I am dating them.”

Recalling an incident, she said, “I got very offended and I said, ‘Well, I’m just waiting for you guys to turn me into a lesbian’. And the connotation was that ‘you’ve made me date every dude in the newspaper already and there are no more guys for me to be with. So, I am waiting for you to put me with a woman. But obviously she didn’t get the joke because she looked at me and nodded and walked way. There was a headline that came out later that said, ‘Nargis Fakhri waiting to turn into a lesbian’”.
Due to this statement, Nargis landed into controversy. Hindustan Times had quoted Gay rights activist Shashi Bhushan as, “It’s an insensitive remark. She should have refrained from bringing up the LGBT to protect herself from rumours.” Nargis defended herself saying, “I didn’t mean to offend. I’m tired of the speculation about my personal life.”

Earlier, during an interview with Brittni De La Mora, Nargis revealed receiving a modelling opportunity from a leading magazine. The actress said she was offered a huge sum of money but she turned down the offer. Nargis claimed that the agents, who were seeking women, picked her for a nude photoshoot and she wasn’t comfortable doing it.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, Nargis recalled being pregnant when she gained weight. She said, “When I first came to India, I was too skinny, so everyone was like ‘you need to put on weight’ I then maintained it, I have a naturally skinny state. Later I gained about 50 pounds, so they posted I was pregnant, which I thought was not funny, but also very funny. I think at first my feelings got hurt, but I realised it’s my job to take care of myself. I lost 40 pounds, worked out, and got that body back.”
