Here's a sneakpeek into the interesting characters of 'Dear Maya'

Maya Devi

Maya Devi is a reclusive woman who has been staying alone in her mansion for twenty long years. She hasn't let even a ray of sunlight enter her house or hasn't ever stepped out. She has led a caged life for twenty years. The reason is because she has never been loved and was rejected by many suitors for marriage. Hence, she has turned into a woman with lots of hatred and bitterness for the outside world. Nothing else is known about her mysterious character.

Anna

Anna is a 16 year old pretty girl who is shy, but has a big romantic heart. She feels very strongly for people and also for the ideas she truly believes in. She is extremely loyal and passionate about anything that she does and believes that the world is as good-hearted as she is.

Ira

Sixteen-year-old Ira is an impulsive and feisty girl who is addicted to fashion, boys and everything that seems fun to her. She is super confident and restless about situations and longs for an exciting future full of glamour.

If you’ve seen the trailer of ‘Dear Maya‘, the concept would have surely left you intrigued. We see a lonely woman Maya Devi played by Manisha Koirala, who hasn’t stepped out of her abandoned bungalow for twenty years. She has turned into this bitter and lonely woman because when she was of a marriageable age, no man (there had been many suitors) had agreed to marry her. That became the prime reason for Maya Devi to turn into an angry, bitter woman. But, two teenage girls Anna and Ira start writing fake letters to Maya Devi, pretending to be one of the suitors she had met 20 years back and who still loves her. She gets transformed by those letters and sells off everything and shifts to Delhi. Anna is saddened and wants to confess to Maya, but Ira refuses. This results into a huge argument between Anna and Ira. Well, what happens next will be known when the movie releases on June 2, 2017.
