Alka is married to Neeeraj Kapoor from Shillong and the couple have been living separately since past 25 years. But the distance has not diminished their love for each other.

Alka met her husband for the first time in 1986 in New Delhi where she had gone with her mother. They were received by the nephew of Alka’s mother’s friend. The two soon bonded and were in constant contact with each other. Cupid struck and they decided to get hitched.

They were warned by their parents about the hurdles but the duo were obstinate. They finally tied the knot in February 1989. The same year, they were blessed with their only daughter Sayesha. But due to their career choices Alka used to stay in Mumbai, Neeraj lived in Shillong.
