Filmy Family

Kajol is born to actress Tanuja and film director Shomu Mukherjee. She is a granddaughter of Shobhna Samarth and great granddaughter of Rattan Bai. Her sister Tanisha Mukherjee is also an actress. She is the niece of legendary actress, Nutan. Monish Bahl, Rani Mukerji and Ayan Mukerji are her cousins. Now she is the wife of actor Ajay Devgn.

Acting debut

Kajol made her acting debut with 'Bekhudi' (1992) while still in school. The actress was only 16 then.

Tamil movie ‘Minsaara Kannavu’

Kajol did a Tamil film 'Minsaara Kannavu' opposite Prabhu Deva and Arvind Swamy. However, the actress found it really difficult to dance along with Prabhu Deva.

Kajol ‘Bollywood Legends’

Suffered a miscarriage

According to the reports, Kajol suffered a miscarriage in 2001. She was six-weeks pregnant when complications occurred. She also underwent surgery in Breach Candy Hospital, Mumbai. Post this, Ajay had said, "Both of us were thrilled when we learnt of the pregnancy. If not today, tomorrow we will look forward to starting a family. Kajol will be back on her feet before you know it. We're happy together and that's all that matters."

Photoshoot

Kajol's photo shoot with Rekha for a magazine wearing only a sweater raised many eyebrows. Indian audiences also disliked it.

Social Work

Kajol is involved with Shiksha, an NGO that works in the field of children's education. She is also an international goodwill ambassador and patron of The Loomba Trust, a non-profit organisation that supports widows and their children around the world. In 2012, the actress was appointed as the brand ambassador of Pratham, a charity organisation for children.
