Koffee With Karan 7 Highlights: Aamir Khan reveals he refused to remake Laal Singh Chaddha, Kareena Kapoor shares she was not first choice

The latest guests to grace the popular talk show Koffee With Karan season 7 are the Laal Singh Chaddha stars Kareena Kapoor Khan and Aamir Khan. In the latest episode of Karan Johar show, we get to see the stars shedding a lot of light on their upcoming film, Laal Singh Chaddha. Right from Aamir revealing that he almost refused the film when he heard it for the first time to him revealing that Kareena was not the first choice of the film, the episode was full of fire.

1. Aamir Khan thought remaking Laal Singh Chaddha would be foolish:

In the latest episode, Aamir revealed that during the premiere of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, the screenplay of Forrest Gump was made and was given to him. However, he didn’t listen to it and thought it would be foolish to remake the iconic film. It so happened, that Atul asked the Dangal actor about his favourite movie. After he named Forrest Gump, he wrote the screenplay in 2 weeks but Khan didn’t listen to it.

2. Kareena Kapoor was not the first choice for the film:

Much to everyone’s surprise, Bebo was not the first choice for the role in the film. Aamir revealed that they saw an ad with Kapoor and they were eyeing a younger actor, citing that they wanted a 25 years old actor who could play the younger as well as the older part in the film. However, they didn’t reveal who they were eyeing but mentioned that it was Kareena who grabbed him and the director’s attention and the rest is history.

3. Laal Singh Chaddha took 14 years to happen:

Laal Singh Chaddha is an official remake of Tom Hanks starrer Forrest Gump but did you know that the makers took almost 8-9 years to only get the rights of the film? Overall, the film took 14 years to make.

4. Kareena Kapoor Khan did a screen test for Laal Singh Chaddha:

Talking about the same in Koffee With Karan 7, Bebo said, “I had to screen test for the part and it’s obviously the first film in my career. It was actually Saif Ali Khan who told me ‘Listen, I think it’s really cool because only Aamir can actually tell someone this that you have to screen test for a part.” Karan Johar was absolutely amazed to hear this story as the Good Newwz actor further added, “They brought a camera to my office, they made me enact a scene because he was like ‘I’m not confident” She also mentioned that it was Saif who asked her to go for it and she did the screen test sportingly. In Aamir’s defence, he also added that he did that not to see her acting skills but to see if she fits the role.

5. Aamir Khan reveals his equation with ex-wives Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta:

When asked if it has taken out a lot of him emotionally, Aamir said, “Well, yes and no. No, because I think Reena and Kiran are both wonderful people so we didn’t have that kind of acrimonious in our relationship. I have the highest regard and respect for Kiran and Reena. Hum log hamesha parivar he rahenge (We will always be a family). This is how we feel for each other. We understand there are things that, change is something that comes and there is a lot of care and genuine love and respect that we have for each other. And when that is there, it’s not hard for you.”

6. Aamir Khan regrets not spending time with his kids and family:

During the KWK 7 episode, Aamir said, “A year ago, I went through a lot of introspection. I felt I did not nurture my relationships like my work. I realised that I’ve not spent so much time with Ira and Junaid since they were children.” He added, “Now, in the last months, I’m a changed person. I connect more with my family, my children, Kiran’s parents, Reena’s parents, my mother, sister and brother. I would have liked to spend much more time with them at the cost of my work. But at that time, I was just so passionately following what I was doing.”

7. Kareena Kapoor reveals one thing about Aamir that she gets annoyed:

Kareena and Aamir have worked together in three films – Talaash, 3 Idiots and the latest one is Laal Singh Chaddha. During a fun segment, Bebo was asked to name one thing that she gets annoyed with easily and much to our surprise, she said it is Aamir Khan’s perfectionist nature. Considering that he is known to be a perfectionist, Bebo feels it’s too much sometimes.
